The Influence of Wattle-brush Burning on Cane Growth
نویسنده
چکیده
Field and greenhouse studies have confirmed that wattle brush ash may cause marked increases in yield . when sugarcane is grown in certain midland soils. This effect was associated with the following factors: (i) decreased soil acidity (ii) increased P and K uptake by the plant (iii) increased soil exchangeable Ca, Mg, P, K and base saturation values (iv) reduced soil levels of A1 and Mn (v) reduced concentrations of root A1 .

Diameter Growth, Biological Rotation Age and Biomass of Chinese Fir in Burning and Clearing Site Preparations in Subtropical China
Sustained forest management of Cunninghamia lanceolata (Chinese fir) plantations in subtropical China is restricted by the limited availability of quantitative data. This study combines inventory data and tree-ring analysis of Chinese fir from natural and plantation forests that were subjected to controlled burning or brush clearing site preparations. Inter-annual variation of Chinese fir tree-...

The trashing versus burning debate has been raging for many years, where trashing is defined as the physical separation of leaf material from the cane stick prior to transporting the cane stick to the mill. This paper steers away from the environmental debate and focuses on the economics of trashing versus burning. Trashed cane can generally be supplied quicker than burnt cane, reducing sucro...

متن کاملThe Impact of Sugar Cane–Burning Emissions on the Respiratory System of Children and the Elderly
We analyzed the influence of emissions from burning sugar cane on the respiratory system during almost 1 year in the city of Piracicaba in southeast Brazil. From April 1997 through March 1998, samples of inhalable particles were collected, separated into fine and coarse particulate mode, and analyzed for black carbon and tracer elements. At the same time, we examined daily records of children (...
